Governor Phil Murphy signed A-4085/S-3007, a bill legalizing natural organic reduction on September 11, 2025. This recent legalization of natural organic reduction, the process of controlled, supervised decomposition of human remains into a soil-like product, introduces a new facet of the industry in New Jersey. This course delves into the science of the process of natural organic reduction, what the law allows and disallows, pending regulations, the history of natural organic reduction and how to best serve families who seek out natural organic reduction prior to final disposition. Attendees will gain an understanding of the new law and proposed regulations prior to the law’s implementation in 2026.
